70 Years, 70 Kermits

With this design, I wanted to pay tribute to Kermit's history by capturing many of his most iconic (and yes, some obscure) looks over the last seven decades. 

I originally prepared this piece as part of the 70th anniversary Muppet celebration on Instagram, but I tweaked it further. I had some people asking for a key as well, which I have included below.

A comprehensive depiction of many memorable Muppet characters from throughout the years (and some not-so-memorable ones as well). Each square represents a different character and indicates the primary Muppeteer(s) for that character, as well as the year and production in which the character made its debut. I'd long considered doing a superhero-themed alphabet but I'd resisted for a variety of reasons, including the sheer immense scope of the superhero universe and the fact that there were other similar pieces out there. Ultimately, however, superheroes and comics were such an important part of my childhood that I couldn't ignore them. So I added a bit of a challenge: I wanted to represent 26 heroes and 26 villains from a specific universe. I wanted to stick to their face and upper torso only (which meant, among other things, no wheelchair for "X" or extra arms for "o") Introducing.... the Marvelphabet: Also available in straight hero and villain versions:   Have fun guessing who is who.
